Who is the training for? This 2 day course is for you if you are going to use the PEEP programme with families in your area. Professionals and practitioners who have previously attended the course include family learning and family support workers, nursery nurses, preschool and nursery teachers, health visitors and midwives, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, librarians and many other early years workers.
Where does it happen? Regular events take place in Oxford and around the UK. We can come to your area if you have 12-16 people that you would like to be trained. Please contact us for further details or check our latest dates.
What’s included? During the 2 days you will have opportunities to explore PEEP principles, materials and practices. Using a range of activities you will learn about:
- the PEEP curriculum in the Learning Together series and links to other frameworks (eg Every Child Matters, EYFS)
- strategies for working with parents/ carers and children together in groups, homes and other settings
- supporting the OCN accreditation for parents
- using resources in PEEP
Throughout the 2 days we will support you in looking at ways in which PEEP can be used in your work with families.
At PEEP for Practitioners training each person is given a comprehensive handbook, containing lots of information about different aspects of PEEP delivery, as well as the City & Guilds handbook. After the training, practitioners also have free access to the adaptable session plans on our log-in website, which refer to our Learning Together folders. Practitioners will need a copy of the relevant Learning Together folder/s to deliver the PEEP programme with families in groups, drop-ins or in their home. These are available at a discounted rate when ordered within one month of the training event.
How does it link to City & Guilds accreditation? In 2009 PEEP Registration evolved to become a level 3 City & Guilds accreditation unit, called Engage parents in their children's early learning. This gives practitioners 3 credits towards the 3599 Work with Parents award. It offers a practical way for practitioners to demonstrate and receive recognition for the standard of their PEEP work. Practitioners register within six weeks of attending the PfP training and starting their Learning Together planning, delivery and reflection. They put together a portfolio based on their planning and reflection documents, which includes an observation of their delivery.
Practitioners may choose to go on to PEEP for Practitioners Extended, with university accreditation at undergraduate or masters level.
How much does it cost? PEEP for Practitioners 2-day Training and C&G accreditation: £300 per person + VAT. In Oxford this includes lunch and refreshments. If we come to you we cover our travel and accommodation costs and ask you to provide the venue and catering.
