* * PEEP's Book Review Page

It’s always challenging trying to select the appropriate books to use in early years’ settings and incredibly thought-provoking choosing the right books to share in PEEP groups. That’s one of the reasons we launched this book reviews page as we wanted to support managers and practitioners in the book-buying process. Of course, we also wanted to give practitioners lots of ideas about using and enjoying the books with adults and children alike.

Last time we added a ‘suggested use’ section for each book to give you extra ideas as to how you can adapt each book for your PEEP work. That has proved very popular and so it will be a permanent fixture! Don’t forget, we are always delighted to get feedback about what you think of our review page. Simply e-mail jayne.lacny@peep.org.uk with your comments.

In this volume we have also focussed on books to use during Water PEEP or during bathtime. Go on take the plunge; these books will inspire you! Plus, we will occasionally give space to letters we receive from practitioners about the best books they are using. On this occasion, we are thankful to Sarah Lane, a Family Support Worker from Somerset for her comments. If anyone else has comments they want to air, don’t hesitate to e-mail us.

Grateful thanks to Vicki Cullen, Chris Hubbard, Natalie Huckin, Debbie Rudman, Christine Steer and Helen Stroudley, plus thanks are also due to staff at Room to Play and all parents/carers and children who have been involved in the reviewing process.
