What is Open College Network (OCN)?

The Open College Network is a nationally-recognised scheme.  The PEEP OCN programme, Learning Together at Home, can be achieved at Level 1 (equivalent to a basic GCSE pass/ NVQ Level 1) and/or Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE A-C/ NVQ Level 2).

The PEEP OCN programme:

is especially designed for PEEP parents/carers;

is a way of gaining a certificate which recognises your part in supporting your child's learning;

is for anyone who is spending time caring for a child;

is optional: you can choose whether to do it or not.

What do parents/carers have to do?

You have to show that you have understood the links between what you do with the child in your care in everyday life, and how this helps with their learning.

Your PEEP Leader can help you see the links during your PEEP group or home visits.  There are nine pointers relating to your child's learning that tie in with what you do during PEEP sessions.

You show your learning by completing a portfolio which may contain photos and things you and your child have collected or made together.  You can keep it afterwards as a lasting memento.

More OCN support and information for practitioners can be found in the log-in Practitioner Area - click OCN documents on the right-hand menu.
