An important part of PEEP's role is to promote research in the field of educating children and supporting families. There is a dynamic relationship between research into aspects of PEEP and the delivery and development of our Learning Together programme that we offer to families. Research findings can offer new insights for practitioners around the country, while new ways of delivering the PEEP programme continue to be evaluated.

Four formal research studies on PEEP have been carried out by the University of Oxford:

Sally Smith presented some of the Room to Play Study findings at the EECERA (European Early Childhood Education Association) 2007 conference. This was part of a symposium with Peter Hannon (University of Sheffield) and Alison Street.

Time to Play is a participatory action research project running from April 2008 - March 2009. It intends to improve the integration of young children of ethnic minority into the services offered by Children's Centres by developing culturally appropriate sessions based on creative play.
